    • If a tournament has 16 or fewer entries, points will be awarded only to the top 8 pairs (first round winners).

    End of Season Rankings

In order to receive a ranking, a team must play in at least three National Ranking Tournaments together. At least one of these tournaments must be played outside of your region. Top three scores earned will be used to determine final rankings.

    Tournament Seeds

National Ranking Points will be used to determine seeds for all National Ranking Tournaments, with the following exceptions:

    • If the number of seeds and placements required for the draw exceeds the number of entries with at least 10 National Ranking Points, earned at more than event, then regional points will be used to fill out placements and seeds.
    • The National Ranking Chair will have discretion in seeding former national contenders who have few or no points in the current or past season.
    • A player who has missed the entire season due to injury, pregnancy or for other personal reasons will start the season with the points they earned from their last season of play. They may use "old" points under the same rules that apply to all other players. However once a player has played 3 tournaments in the current season, only current points will be used.

Entering the season, players are seeded based on their 3 highest scores from the prior season.

When a tournament has been held, prior season's results from that event must be dropped. (For example, after Chicago 2004 is held no one can count Chicago 2003 for future seeding.)

Beginning with the Philadelphia tournament and continuing through Cincinnati, players will be seeded using no more than 2 scores from the prior season. At least one score from the current season will be used. For players who have not yet played a tournament we will count no more than 2 scores.

Beginning with Short Hills and continuing through Nationals, no more than one score from the prior season will be used. For players with fewer than 2 results from the current season, no more than 2 scores will be counted, and only one can be from the prior season. If no tournaments have been played, no more than one score will be counted.

Draws will continue to be done by members of the Players' Committee and the National Ranking Chair according to rules established by the APTA.
